Ownership
Springbank Airport is owned by the federal government and operated under long term lease agreement by the Calgary Airport Authority.
 
Subdivision
Airport land subdivision may only be undertaken to facilitate land lease.
 
Aerodrome and Development Standards
Airport land use and development is regulated by Transport Canada Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices, and complies with applicable aviation standards, laws zoning, and recommended land use practices including those et out in the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Air Transport Association.All airport development is subject to review and approval by the Calgary Airport Authority.
 
Developments must also comply with the Springbank Airport Land Use and Development Guidelines.
 
Springbank Airport Land Use Plan
The current plans for Springbank Airport anticipate upgrades to the existing airfield infrastructure, provision for a future 16R-34L parallel runaway when required and ongoing, incremental development of aviation-related businesses.
